Bubbles

Bubbles make everything better....

What is it about bubbles that can turn a child's mood around? Whether it's bubbles in the tub, blowing bubbles, or our latest... a plastic tub filled with water and bubbles and spoons and cups to play with on the kitchen floor.

I actually took these pictures one afternoon a couple of weeks before Christmas when the little munchkin man was feeling slightly under the weather.  He was just up from a nap and oh-so-cranky. I was desperate so we broke out the bubble machine.  It really lifted his spirits (and mine). I love them too much not to share!

Bubbles Bubbles Everywhere....

Look closely to where the bubbles fall across his face in the picture below... Everytime I look at this I can't help but think John Lenon.

  1. Bubbles are cool! Love your photos. How did you achieve the focus on the bubbles with A blurred background? Also do you use a tripod?

    1. Thanks Amie :) I didn't use a tripod for these although I do have one. I don't find myself using it nearly as much as I probably should. As for the focus. I used my 50mm lens and set my aperture somewhere around 1.8 (the wider the aperture the blurrier the background will be) and switched my focus to manual. Then I just did the best I could do focus on a particular bubble (it was easier if there were lots of bubbles) before I pressed the shutter. Hope that helps! Glad you like the pix.

  2. Jen- These are so precious!! We love our bubble machine but I never thought to use it inside. This may be just the idea to break the winter blues! Thanks for the inspiration!

  3. Great Photographs. I notice that you have watermarked the photographs. That's a nice idea to keep a track of your photographs on the web.
