In addition to the MeMeTales books we are enjoying some other animal themed books in our house. We'd love it if you shared your favorite animal themed books with us in the comments too!
For the Big Kids
Our seven and nine year olds have recently enjoyed these books and series.
The Humphery Series by Betty G. Birney
The Puppy Place Series by Ellen Miles
Socks by Beverly Cleary
For the Babes
If you think nine months old is too young to be obsessed with books guess again. Books are one of C's favorite things right now. Specifically what I call the "In My..." series of board books by Sara Gillingham and Lorena Siminovich. We currently have In My Tree, In My Nest, In My Jungle and In My Pond. And there are more! These are the cutest little books, each featuring an animal and it's habitat and the animal is a finger puppet. The munchkin man loves it when I make the puppet move while I read the story. I can not say enough good things about these books! He picks them out of his book basket every time on his own free will and EVERY time I read one to him he just lights up!
And those bunny's...ooohh I just wanted to take one home!
Don't forget the MeMeTales and PBSKid Readathon 2012 runs for six weeks (starting this week). Each week throughout the program I will be posting relative to the books and themes of the week. Be sure to check back! If you haven't registered for the Readathon yet but would like to you can click here for more information. Each week your child participates and reads along you can print out a reward certificate via the MeMeTales Readathon website (use the link I gave you above). We love award certificates! Next week's theme is friendship. I hope you will follow, and read along with us!
Come on and Follow us on Facebook and Twitter! You won't want to miss any of the fun!
We'd love to have you!
Disclaimer: I am receiving books each week free from MeMeTales. In exchange I will be sharing with you the activities we do as well as ideas related to the theme of the week along with promoting this program. My honest opinion is that it is a WONDERFUL program and we would be participating in this Readathon whether my blog was selected as a partner or not. (although I can also honestly say I'm thrilled that we were!).

That kid-with-goat photo is wonderful! Love what you did with the book!
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks Eddie..yes that picture cracked me up!
DeleteAre those baby bunnies? So adorable!!! That farm looks fantastic! Thanks for reminding me to take my kids to take to the similar one that is near us, ASAP!
ReplyDeleteYup, baby bunnies. So cute! I wanted to run off with one :)
DeleteWhat a lovely idea. We are choosing this book too. Still thinking about our activity though, haha. The "in my" board book series looks so cute! I've not seen them before so I'm going to have to have a look for them. Once again, just gorgeous photos. I always can't wait to see more :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Debs! It's a cute book. Great for you kids age wise. That "in my" series is beyond awesome. Carter loves books but he gets super excited about those.
DeleteThis looks like a wonderful place for a field trip! I love the picture of the two reading together.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteGoing to put the Humphrey book on hold at the library now! Thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteAw, those books are so cute! Hope you like it!
DeleteI've seen those "In My"...books before! They looked so adorable. I think one that we looked at had a ladybug on it. I love the pictures of you all with the farm animals, too. I just love it when their faces light up when they are face to face with an animal! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gina. I don't think the little guy knew what to make of the big "funny" looking animal licking mommas hand!
DeleteGreat animal book choices, Jen! The "In My..." series is popular with my boys too. We also love Eric Carle's "Brown Bear Brown Bear" book and "Go Dog Go".
ReplyDeleteThanks Malia (that means a lot coming from you) I didn't have the "In My.." series when my oldest was little. Glad I found them. They are sooo cute! Love Eric Carle. I think we have just about every one. C loves "Brown Bear Brown Bear" right now too.
DeleteSo glad you linked up to Summer Reading Adventure! Stop by at the end of the series to find out if you won the Tickle Monster book giveaway. Have a great 4th of July!
