I have a hard time parting with magazines. There's alway "one little thing" I want to save them for. I have an ever growing stack that I hate to part with because I might someday want to resource that "one" article that I really liked. As though I will ever be able to find "that"particular article in "that" particular magazine again. That's if I should even manage to find the time to actually look! Yet, I can't throw them out. Anyone relate? Well look no further. I have found a use for them :) Baby Play!!
It was completely by accident that hubby discovered Mr C's love for periodicals. See, I left the munchkin man with hubs one evening while I went out to run a few errands. When I came back hubby was so proud he had found a new something to entertain the babe! Great idea hubs! (between you and me I just wish it hadn't been the one magazine that just came in the mail that I hadn't read yet) Anyway, gotta give the hubby credit for being resourceful. And since he claimed its worked so well I decided to see for myself the next morning over coffee. So I sat down, coffee in hand, and gave the little guy a (already read) magazine. Sure enough....loads of fun and entertainment. So much so that I HAD to put the coffee down and take a few pictures to share with you! The babycakes played for quite some time.
Ripping pages...
Looking at baby faces...
Kissing baby faces, awww.....
Pushing it around on the floor...

He is so cute! My oldest now 3yr loved doing this but my now 1yr who does like to do this cant because he can't help himself when it comes to eating paper, lol! My oldest never once put the paper in hs outh but his brother another story. It's crazy how different kids are. Love the post and thanks for sharing- frogs and snails and puppy dog tails
ReplyDeleteMy cousin's boy was also unable to help himself to putting paper in his mouth...so when it came time to play or unwrap paper, she put a binky in his mouth and he would just play with his hands. Not sure if that would work for you, my boy won't take a binky, so I have been unable to try.
DeleteThanks Jaime :) It is funny how they are. C typically puts everything in his mouth but he didn't try with the magazine lol. Jenn, that's a great suggestion with the binky.
DeleteWhat a great idea! My guy loves to crumple up napkins but they disintegrate quickly with all the drool :) I bet magazines would stand up to the beating a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, he loves napkins too. Oddly though those usually end up in the mouth and then I have to take them away. He never tried putting the magazines in his mouth though. Funny aren't they?
DeleteMy daughter has always loved catalogs, especially those with other wee ones in them like Pottery Barn Kids! Glad to know I am not the only one recycling my reading material in this way!
ReplyDeleteToo cute Margaret! Thanks for stopping by and saying hi :) It's a great way to recycle!
DeleteWe are the same way! I can't throw magazines away and my daughter loves to play with them! I tear out anything that I think might come in handy later and then let her have it. Isn't it cute how much they love the babies in the magazines? We let her play with her car seat box, too, and she just looked at and kissed that life-size baby on it for the longest time!
ReplyDeleteHi There :) Thanks for stopping by! Yes, I just love watching him look at all the baby faces. That is too cute with the box!
DeleteI love this! When G was getting cranky or wouldn't play with any of his toys, I would always search for a magazine for him to look through! He loves books, so these were similar, but still "different" enough to catch his attention. Love the picture of him looking at the baby in the magazine! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gina! That pic is my favorite :)
DeleteMy 2 1/2 year old loves magazines. She'll carry them around for a week. Looking and relooking at them till they are old and wrinkly.
ReplyDeleteAw, cute! Glad to know I will be able to tap into them for some time still!
DeleteAdorable! Thanks for sharing with Tuesday Tots!
ReplyDeleteHe is super cute! Ok, so my 8 month old would eat this magazine to shreds! I'm so envious of babies that don't put EVERYTHING in their mouths! :) Everything he plays with has to be mouth ready. :)
ReplyDeleteThankfully he's not putting as much in his mouth as he used too so I can get away with a little more now, but that was us too for a long time. EVERYTHING went in the mouth!
DeleteSo cute! Featuring this on my Kid's Co-op post tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteAw, Thank you Lori!
